Thomas W. Long

–

Scottsville, New York

Thomas W. Long passed peacefully on May 19, 2026, after a long illness, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Born on March 22, 1945, Tom spent much of his life in the towns of Scottsville and Canandaigua, New York, and also cherished his years living in Florida. Above all else, his greatest joy in life was his family.

Tom was known for his strong work ethic, his ability to build and fix almost anything, and his adventurous spirit. Throughout his career, he owned and operated Long’s Landscaping and Excavation, was a partner in Quantum Development, alongside Kevin Sands, and later founded Handyman Solutions. He took great pride in his work and in helping others through his talents and craftsmanship.

He enjoyed NASCAR and boat races, boating and exploring waterways, camping, downhill skiing, animals, and spending time outdoors. Tom especially valued the friendships and memories made throughout his many adventures and projects over the years.

While living in Florida, Tom proudly volunteered with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, giving his time in service to others and his community. When he returned to Canandaigua, he served with the USCG Auxiliary Station at Sodus Point and was a captain on the Canandaigua Lady.

Tom was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Massecar Green; his father, Howard Green; his uncle, Gordon Massecar; his father-in-law, Cliff LaPree; his mother-in-law, Jane P. LaPree; and his sister, Hillerie Dodge.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Michele LaPree Long; his daughter, Katelyn Parsons; his son-in-law, Tim Parsons; and his cherished grandchildren, Keira Parsons, Khloé Parsons, and Jake Parsons. He is also survived by his brothers-in-laws, John Dodge and Thomas LaPree; his nieces, Krystal Okhamvilaysack and Danielle Clark; his nephew, Tom LaPree Jr.; and many good friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and generosity.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to: Hospeace House 7824 W. Hollow Road, Naples, NY 14512 or to LeTourneau Christian Camp 4950 East Lake Road, Rushville, NY 14544.
