Samuel J. Vernaccini Obituary (1925

LeRoy: Samuel J. Vernaccini 12/6/2009 Samuel Vernaccini of LeRoy passed away on the evening of Sunday December 6, 2009 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Mr. Vernaccini was born on September 18, 1925 in LeRoy, New York to the late Stefano & Petrina (Lamitina) Vernaccini. He proudly served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S. LST 606, and later worked at Lapp Insulator in LeRoy. Samuel was a member of the Botts-Fiorito American Legion, an avid bowler and golfer, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Beatrice "Bea", daughter Susan Becker of LeRoy, son Samuel (Krissy Sloan) Vernaccini of LeRoy, brother Steve Vernaccini of Bergen, sister Josephine Luce of Bergen, sisters-in-law; Tina Vernaccini, Betty (Dom) Scafetta, and Joan (Sam) Riggi, grandchildren; Brandon, Justin, and Amanda Becker, and Samuel Vernaccini III, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Francis, and Florence Vinci. Family & friends may call at the Cameron Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott St. (Rt. 19 South) on Wednesday from 3-7PM. Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church (St. Peter's Building). Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery, with military honors.
