Rochester: Apgar, Mary G. "Gretchen" (Schepers) St. Johns Home, Rochester. September 21 at age 97. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bill, sister Rita, and granddaughter, Phoebe. Survived by her sister Kathleen Schepers, Minneapolis, MN; children Rita (Mario) Dolcedo, Italy; James (Jacelyn) Balt. MD; Cathleen (Tim) Clancy, Clifton, NY; Gretchen (Patrick) Loewke, Rochester NY; Grandchildren Abigail, Alessandro, Alisa, Cristina, Kevin and Colin and great grandson Francesco. Gretchen was a librarian by profession, and passionate about books, social justice and politics. Leading the effort to desegregate the Havre De Grace, Md. public library during the 50's was one of her proudest achievements. Her love of family was boundless. This gentle lady will be sadly missed by those who embraced her love. Her witty repartee will be missed by the angel caregivers at St. Johns Home. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at St. John's Home October 1, 11 AM. Please support a charity of your choice in her memory.
