Joyce P. Kise passed away October 6, 2024 at the age of 80, following a long and courageous fight with breast cancer. Joyce was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Laurence C. Kise, loving mom to Michelle (Jeffrey) Ingham, and beloved Nana to Corey and Connor Ingham. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Michael) Kania, sister in-law Betty (Dick) Rath, sister in-law Linda Stephens, and many nieces and nephews.
Born on a military base in Fort Myers, Florida to parents Robert and Marion Purdy, Joyce later grew up in the Rochester area. She attended John Marshall High School and was employed at Eastman Kodak prior to marrying her husband, Larry, on September 18, 1965. They made their home in Brockport, where they raised their daughter, Michelle. Making memories while spending time with family at their cabin in the Adirondack Mountains was a source of great joy for her.
Joyce was loved by all, and devoted to her family and friends. Her favorite place to be was outdoors, where she meticulously maintained the beautiful gardens and hedgerows surrounding their home. In the colder months, bird watching became one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed spending time in her sunroom completing intricate counted cross stitch projects, which will be cherished for years to come. As she watched her grandsons grow up, she could be found at all of their scouting and sporting events, supporting them in every way that she could. She was an excellent cook, and showed her love through her baking. Joyce often baked chocolate chip cookies for her husband and care packages for all of her grandsons' adventures. Her beloved granddog, Daisy, was also spoiled with treats and affection during daily visits.
Joyce had a giving and selfless heart when it came to caring for others, and always brightened a room with her presence. She showed all of us what strength looks like and how to love unconditionally, while remaining a source of joy, hope, and determination. These are life lessons that we will carry in our hearts throughout our lives. She will be deeply missed, but will live on in our memories and hearts.
At Joyce's request, there will be no calling hours. Her family will hold a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider performing an act of kindness for someone in Joyce's memory.
