Scottsville, New York
Edwin S. Yaw, known to most as Ed, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep while at home on September 7th; he was 78 years old. He was a longtime resident of Scottsville.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sandra, and his three children: Jeffrey (Amanda), Jodi (Timothy Limner), and Jonathan (Daniel). He will be dearly remembered by his four grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., Skylar, Tessa, and Camryn. Ed was a devoted brother and uncle, cherished by his siblings, nieces and nephews.
Ed lived a life full of passion. A talented musician, he was a member of the Riverside Drive Band. An outstanding athlete, he excelled in soccer as both a player and a coach. His discipline and strength were evident in his lifelong martial arts practice, where he achieved the rare honor of tenth degree black belt in Ninja Ryu karate; he shared his Ninja Ryu knowledge and skills as a Shihan.
Ed’s roots ran deep in the Wheatland-Chili community, where he graduated in 1965. Just this year, he proudly organized and celebrated his 60th high school reunion with dear classmates. He also served his country honorably as a Vietnam Veteran, remaining close to his army brothers from the 561st.
Above all, he will be remembered for his big heart, sharp sense of humor, great story telling, unwavering strength and dedication to his family, friends and community. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling, uncle, and friend; his presence will be profoundly missed by many.
