Obituary for Lois R. Nicholson
Lois R. Nicholson, age 69, of LeRoy, N.Y., passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by family.
She is survived by her sister and brothers, Carol (David) Frost of LeRoy, Gordon (Suzanne) Nicholson of Canandaigua, William (Marjorie) Nicholson of Sudbury, MA; her nieces and nephew, Jill, Marny, Betsy, Lisa, John, Lindsey, and Sara; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, William and Ruth Nicholson and many lucky felines including Cinder, Scamper and Fluffy.
Lois was born on July 2, 1952, in Amsterdam, NY., and raised in LeRoy, N.Y. A graduate of LeRoy High School and Genesee Community College, Lois’ work and personal life was about helping people. She used her voice and poems to affirm and celebrate her faith and her family.
Lois was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, Genesee Chorale, and LeRoy Garden Club. Her gift of caring was demonstrated for decades as a loving caregiver to her mother, Ruth, prior to her passing. She most recently worked as an activities assistant with residents of LeRoy Manor and for the Warm Line/Peer to Peer Non-Crisis Phone Service in Batavia.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor which she used to create uplifting moments of silliness and fun with family and friends. She was also an avid researcher into her family ancestry where she uncovered dozens of far and famous relations.
Interment at the Machpelah Cemetery will be private. Her Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, July 2, 2022 at The First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, 7 Clay St., LeRoy, NY
