Obituary for Sherman M. Booten

Sherman M. Booten, 99 of LeRoy, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

Mr. Booten was born September 1, 1921 in Virginia. He was a son of the late Sherman and Sarah (Shanks) Booten. Sherman served in the Army/Army Air Corp in WWII, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and an honorary member of the American Legion. He served as Jr. Vice Commander of The Western, NY Counties, Council Commander, District 7 Commander and All-State Team Post Commanders representing LeRoy VFW Post 9590.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine (Brooks) Booten, daughter, Kimberly Booten LaClair, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by brother, General and sisters, Martha Slaughter and Minnie Smith all of Virginia.

Sherman was an avid baseball fan, and played for the LeRoy Aces after WWII. He also enjoyed spending time with the guys at Stella Collison and with family and friends.

His Graveside Memorial Service will be held 11 A.M. on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Macphelah Cemetery, LeRoy.
