Dorothy M. Wheeler of Bergen age 95 passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Highland Hospital. She was born on June 29, 1920 to the late Charles and Bertha Faddis Gilbert. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Wheeler; sons, Harvey Hardin, Harvey Brooks, daughter, Glena; sisters, Helen Witters, Margaret Gilbert, Selma Gilbert; brothers, Charles, James, Richard and Edward Gilbert. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and James Lamkin; grandchildren, Shari (David) Lamkin-Treichler, Kathleen (Scott) Lamkin-Kennard; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Christian, Zachary Treichler, Connor, Maeghan, William Kennard; several nieces and nephews.
Over her working career, Dorothy was employed at Gates Chili News, Elmcrest Nursing Home and Miller Mac Printing. She enjoyed family gatherings and large Memorial Day picnics with family and friends. Dorothy was the family historian and proud of her Charlotte (Rochester) roots. She loved antiques, Kodak cameras and old records. She loved walking in her woods surrounded by wild flowers. An independent woman, Dorothy had a very strong faith.
Friends may call Sunday, Oct6ober 18, 2015 from 2-5 PM at the Cameron, Brady and Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott Street, LeRoy. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy. Intermenty at St. Brigid Cemetery, Bergen. Memorials may be made to the Church.
