Richard Spry, 66, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2015 at Lockport Memorial Hospital, Lockport, NY. Richard was born May 4, 1949 in Rochester, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Gage Spry & Robert G. Spry and his brother Robert G. Spry. He was the grandson of, Mr. & Mrs. Edward W. Spry, Leroy’s past School District Superintendent. He is survived by his loving cousin Deborah Spry and other members of his extended family.
Richard was an active participant in various programs at Opportunities Unlimited in Niagara Falls (OUN) for many years. He was well loved and a favorite amongst both staff and peers. He was known throughout his program as the local weatherman and sports caster, two occupations he enjoyed immensely. A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Miami Dolphins, Richard enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. Richard also valued the outdoors, camping, beaches, music and dancing. He had a vibrant smile and an amazing zest for life.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at OUN Day Services on December 28, 2015. Richard was truly born with the gift to change the lives of those around him.
Richard will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 9:30 AM in the family plot at the Machpelah Cemetery- 71 North Street, LeRoy, NY.
